Dr. Xiaoyuan Tan has over a decade of experience in educational research and evaluation. Before joining TalkingPoints, she served as a Senior Research Scientist for the Arizona Department of Education, working on evaluating state-wide initiatives that were designed to improve K-12 public education. She also worked as a psychometrician and an educational product developer for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
Being a first-generation immigrant herself and with both of her children attending a public school, Dr. Tan fully understands the challenges faced by children from underserved multilingual immigrant communities. She strives to promote the TalkingPoints platform as a valuable tool that allows families and schools to work together to close achievement gaps and accelerate learning for all students.
