Interim Director of Research

Mallary Swartz, Ph.D. brings over 20 years of experience as an applied researcher and thought leader in family engagement within education. She has held various positions at Start Early, Fred Rogers Productions, Brazelton Touchpoints Center, was Co-Principal Investigator (PI) of the Office of Head Start National Center on Parent, Family, and Community Engagement, and PI of two National Science Foundation research and innovation grants. Most recently, Mallary served as Senior Director of Learning and Impact at ParentPowered, PBC, where she provided subject matter expertise, led research, and oversaw impact strategy.

Mallary has spent her career cultivating relationship-based partnerships, engaging in cross-organizational work, and leading research, evaluation, and innovation projects at family-oriented and education-focused organizations. She is deeply committed to centering the diverse voices of educators and families in her work. Mallary has a Ph.D. in Child Development from Tufts University, an M.S. from the University of Pittsburgh, and a B.A. from Duke University. Outside of work, Mallary enjoys spending time with her family (including her dog, Rookie), cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Yankees, and hiking.
