Katie James, Ph.D. is a learning scientist with over 15 years of experience conducting applied education research in K–12 schools. She has held roles across academia and EdTech, including as a Research Assistant Professor at Northwestern University and Managing Director of Research at PowerMyLearning, where she led a $4M federal grant to evaluate a family engagement EdTech product. Throughout her career, she has led mixed-methods research and evaluation projects, supported evidence-based product development, and partnered with schools to ensure tools meet the real needs of educators and students. Katie is committed to research that expands access to learning for all students and centers the strengths and assets that every student and family brings to the classroom.
Katie holds a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago, an Ed.M. from Harvard University, and a B.A. from Northwestern University. Outside of work, she enjoys yoga, gardening, and time with her family and dog.
